We're excited to announce that we now offer laser therapy, right in our clinic! Laser therapy has virtually limitless uses, including treatment for joint pain, wounds, and post-surgery recovery. Read on to find out how your pets, horses, and cattle can benefit from laser therapy.

K-Laser Veterinary Mechanism

This video shows the detailed mechanism of how laser therapy works. The video will open in another window.
Our technician Angie doing laser therapy on a surgery patient to speed up recovery time and reduce scar tissue formation.
Our technician Becky using laser therapy on Blue to help with an ear infection. He's showing great results!
Our technician Ami treating Landry for joint pain. He feels much better!
Our technician Megan doing laser therapy on Fiona for a back injury. Fiona is recovering quickly!
Our intern Laura treating an injury to a bull's hock to reduce swelling, pain, and healing time.
What is laser therapy?
Laser therapy is a painless, non-surgical, non-drug option that helps with and speeds up the body's natural healing process. It uses light energy to increase circulation to the area, which reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. Many animals show results after just one treatment, but animals will usually improve more with each treatment.

How does laser therapy work?
Laser therapy works through a process called "biomodulation," in which specific wavelengths of light energy increase local bloodflow. This brings more oxygen and nutrients to the area and removes cellular waste products more quickly than normal. The light energy stimulates the blood to release more oxygen, which improves the cells' metabolism, speeding up tissue repair, cell growth, and wound healing. Animals also have reduced inflammation, reduced pain, and improved nerve function. Injuries treated with laser therapy also end up with less scar tissue than normal.

What can laser therapy be used for?
Laser therapy can be used for almost anything, and it can be used on any species. Some common uses include:
  • Surgery incisions
  • Lameness, joint pain and injuries, hip dysplasia, and back injuries
  • Ear infections
  • Wounds, cuts, bites, and hot spots
  • Inflamed anal glands
  • Dental cleanings, tooth extractions, and gingivitis
  • Edema and congestion
There are countless other uses as well. If you think laser therapy might be a good option for your animal, give us a call today!
